How to Make the Perfect Smoothie with Flax Milk

Smoothies are such a convenient way to get in all your vitamins and essential nutrients. And there are always ways to up your smoothie game! For example, making a smoothie with flax milk adds heart healthy omega-3’s, cancer fighting lignans, and fiber! I have perfected the base to an extremely healthy and tasty smoothie. Including ways to elevate the flavor, like this pumpkin spice smoothie perfect for the fall season! 


Step One: Choosing the base 

The first thing I like to start off with is about ½ to 1 cup of Flax Milk depending on how liquidy I want the consistency! 


Step Two: Choosing the fruit 

I like my fruits to compliment each other. So, if I’m going tropical I’d choose papaya, mango, and pineapple. Or, let's say I’m doing a berry smoothie with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.


Step Three: Choosing vegetable 

Trust me when I say add veggies to your smoothie! It adds more nutrients and helps keep you fuller for longer! Frozen zucchini, cauliflower, kale, or spinach are my top favorite vegetable add-ins for smoothies. For my favorite fall time smoothie I use pumpkin!


Step Four: Choose a Protein 

We want to make our smoothies as satiating as possible, so protein is a must! I love adding in protein powders, but for some natural protein sources I will add in greek yogurt, nut butter, or hemp seeds! 


Step Five: Choose a Fat 

Again, adding in healthy fats will help keep you fuller for longer! You can add in avocado, nut butter, flax seeds, or chia seeds. 


More than anything you want your smoothie to be balanced. Make sure you aren’t adding too much sugar with fruit or any juice. Remember that using flax milk provides you with essential nutrients and is low in calories, unlike using oat milk which has over three times the calories per cup or almond milk which lacks nutrients!  Pumpkin Spice Smoothie 


1/2 cup organic pumpkin puree

1/3 cup unsweetened Malibu Mylk

1 scoop this is needed prenatal protein powder 

1 scoop this is needed collagen powder 

1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice 

1/2 frozen organic banana

1 tablespoon organic almond butter


Blend until smooth and enjoy
